Many organisations are made up of numerous departments, which contain various teams, who are further sub-divided by the individual projects that they are undertaking. The different work being undertaken may be different in totality, but there is often crossover between them across an organisation.

Despite this, there is often disconnection between teams who do not ordinarily communicate and share information, even if it may benefit their causes. This may not be due to any working friction, or desire to work with one another, but may just be because there is not an awareness of the link.

Discovery Facilitation acts in a detective-like capacity to investigate the wider implications of a core theme. What other projects, teams, data, as well as a host of other things relate to this theme, bringing these and any potential opportunities to the attention of the organisation to improve their efficiency, share information more effectively, save money & time, amongst other potential improvements.
