Business Cases

Business Cases are used to pitch a business proposal (project, programme, portfolio) and provide justification to persuade an organisation or superior to provide funding and/or sign-off allowing a proposal to go ahead.

Contained within will be details of the proposal itself which may include (but is not restricted to) a marketing plan, business strategy, predicted budgets, organisation benefits, scenario breakdowns etc. The contents of a business case will be dependent on the proposal itself, the industry and other relevant details.

Once created, a Business Case will undergo a series of reviews and revisions at pre-agreed times, as further work is carried out and more relevant information becomes available, making the details included within the Business Case more accurate. This activity acts as a record of the chosen proposal option, alongside relevant evidence to support any decisions made.

The management and revision of a Business Case is often the responsibility of the Project/Programme Manager, but may be delegated by the PM is certain circumstances where mounting responsibilities denote. Aardvark Associates can provide PM support as well as Business Case services throughout the lifecycle of a proposal or until a pre-determined decision point as required.
